Team Cheerleading is a yearlong commitment. You will attend all football games, basketball games, competitions, fundraisers, camps and any other team event. Cheerleaders will not be able to participate in any other school athletic sport while on the NPHS cheerleading squad. Sportsmanship Show respect for other cheerleaders, organizations, players, the student body, coaches, officials, and spectators is a must. Bad attitudes/unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and will be subject to dismissal.
Practices Practices will be held after school, at least twice a week. They usually last a couple of hours and consist of stunt practice, cheer practice, or competition practice. If it’s competition season, we may have more practices. You are also required to attend 2 tumbling classes a month at Rose’s Gymnastics. A schedule will be handed out listing all practices. All practices are required. Practice will begin immediately after tryouts.
Stunts We are a competitive team and we must bring it. We start off at the basics until we master them.
Camp There is 2 types of camps we may attend: overnight or private. Overnight camp requires the team to travel and stay in a dormitory/hotel for a number of nights. The camps are usually large. There will be other teams there that you will meet and get to know. Private camp will be held local. The team will get one-on-one instruction with the staff. At camp, we will learn cheers, dances, and stunts. Camp will last about 3 to 4 days.
Games The team will cheer at all home games and only certain away games. You are required to show up at a set time prior to the game to practice game material. Come dressed and ready in practice clothes only! Before practice, please eat dinner. Back your cheer bag the night before of all required attire. Football & Basketball have set schedules for games. All games are required.
